My beautiful Beau

I said goodbye to my lifetime dog 2 years ago today. I miss him. I miss his adorable high speed circles every time I came home, I miss how he would howl in true husky form anytime he heard a car alarm :), I miss his expressive eyes, I even miss his hair everywhere and chasing him around for hours when he would pull a Houdini move and get loose!

My Beau, he saw me through so much between the difficult ages of 16 and 25. He was my constant, the force that kept me grounded. I needed him longer, but Im happy for what I had. Everyone deserves a Beau, a bond that strong, a true lifetime dog. I still miss him like crazy, but am so honored to have had 9 years with such an amazing companion.

I love you Beau, enjoy 2011 running around the clouds honey...

Good riddance 2010!!

I have really enjoyed reading everyone's different twists on New Year's resolutions. I think the basic resolutions are just too much pressure and can set you up to feel poorly about yourself. I love when people make them into their own style and what works for them, because that is the point right, you want it to work!
(stolen from My Owl Barn cause it was just so darn cute!)

Well, I have decided that I am going to be more present in the moment. (Oh the irony of a plan to be more present!) I tend to be a worrier, to the point of even being detrimental to what i am worrying about! The best way I have found to ground myself in the present is through yoga. So yay!, my "non-resolution" resolution means that I get to make a point to practice more yoga! I am in this weird rotation of going to class 4-5 days one week and then only once the next week. My schedule is a bit odd, but I know I can be more regular. On the weeks where I don't get in enough, I find myself feeling chaotic and worrying more. So, there it is right? Simple solution!

What are your resolutions, non-resolutions, promises, goals, whatever you call them? I really love hearing how people interpret this New Year's resolution tradition and what aspirations we all have for 2011!

Thank you 50!!

I don't know if anyone else has noticed, but I have had 49 followers for months! I don't know why this has bothered me because it is just a number and Im not even sure all of the profiles even still exist, let alone read me on a daily basis! But alas, that annoyingly odd number was getting to me. Finally though, I am at 50! Yay!! (Its the small things in life) Thanks Chris, oh and go check out his movie reviews, they are rather entertaining, sorry, mildly interesting! :)

Happy Monday {14th ed.} aka: Dear Santa...

In holiday essence, Im combining my Happy Monday this week with a Santa list! Remember when writing to Santa was filled with optimism and excitement? Well Im bringing it back! Here's to hoping that Santa is a blogger!! :)

My longest running Etsy wishlist item!
I am ridiculously in love with this print! Its not just because its a purple picture of a girl with an owl on her shoulder (as if that isn't enough!), I just love this woman's entire collection...

These sleeve/shrug things
I love these! Yet another etsy find. How amazingly fun and quirky are they?! Obviously I don't follow Vogue fashion rules...

On a side note: I wouldn't mind if Santa brought me her abs either...

Large-scale bookshelves
I love my bookshelves and my living space is usually determined by where the books will be best suited. :) I can not wait to own a house and have something spectacular like this! Who needs artwork, when books are so much more beautiful?!
Someday, I will have bookshelves tall enough so that I have to use a library ladder!....ahh, dreams :)
(ps: the "santa list" part of this one is that I always want more books!)

Mini Coop
I want one of these so much!! I can not wait until I make money and can trade in my poor overworked Saturn for a snazzy little mini coop!

Trapeze/Aerial rope classes!
I have been wanting to sign up for classes at SANCA for a long time now! How much fun would this be?! Plus, Im sure its a wonderful workout...hmm, that sounds like justification huh?!

Ok, thats it for my Happy Monday/"pretty please, Santa!" list this week! What is making you happy this week and is there anything fun on your Santa list?

Movies in a word...

I stole this idea from Rachele over at The Nearsighted Owl , It looked fun, but was actually kind of hard! (The word links to the movie, in case you are wondering)

I need so many more words to portray how much I love these movies! Anyways, what do you think? Did I capture them well? Do you have any to add? Its harder than it looks...

The match process from hell!!!

Has anyone out there in blog land ever had to go through an internship match process?! If not, consider yourself lucky, it is the epitome of hell purgatory actually! I spent my entire summer and early fall weeding through thousands of sites to narrow it down to 15, filling out every last detail of my academic career on an online profile (Im not exaggerating, literally every detail to the minute!), writing cover letters and essays (all under 500 words, mind you, not an easy task!), hounding people to finish letters of recommendation, and trying to beef up my CV. All for what?! Now I get to *patiently* wait while the interview rejection letters slowly trickle in. Im at 8 rejections and am still waiting on 7 sites. Let me tell you, opening my email is now a panic attack waiting to happen!! Plus, if I get an interview, I have to fly across country on my non-existent salary, just to sit in front of a panel of psychologists for an entire day sweating through my misery! If I don't get an interview, I have to go through this entire process again in March, but in shortened form. And, if that doesn't pan out, I get to do what is called the "clearinghouse" which is a mad dash to fill all the positions that didn't get filled during the lottery of a match process! Why did I do this to myself........

Ok, Im off my pity train now, back to your days, which I truly hope are going much better than mine!! Im going to eat a cupcake and take some yogic breaths...

Happy Monday {13th ed.}

Happy Monday!! Here are my happys (yeah, its a word now).....

This cupcake site
They are the funnest recipes, and I swear every time I make them to bring somewhere people just gush over them! This one is my favorite so far!

Flannel sheets
As I have mentioned, I really love a warm comfy bed! What better way to achieve that than with flannel sheets on a cold night?!

Plus, you can get away with dorky fun prints, because they are flannel and its winter right?!

Burt's Bees
I dare you to find a better lip balm than this!! I may be addicted...

This website
Im not a fan of the name, using profanity just seems to not fit in the literary world, but its still a pretty awesome website!
This SNL skit
Penelope! She is just absolutely hilarious, plus who doesn't know someone like this? Someone who just has to "one-up" you no matter what you say, yeesh its irritating!

Thats it for me this week, what is making you happy?

Wear the light!

I am in love with these scarves that a Cup of Jo found!
The artist took beautiful sky pictures and put them onto scarves so that "even during the darkest months, you can feel the light all around you!" How awesome is that?!

If you have ever been in Seattle during November and December, you understand my excitement about this idea...the constant dark and drizzle is definitely getting to me. Anyone else feeling the winter blues yet?

Happy Monday {12th ed.}

Happy Monday!! Here is what I love this week...

Christmas lights
Simple, pretty ones though...
not overdone crazy ones like this!
(Yikes! that is just a waste of valuable energy...)

Eggnog
I love eggnog in pretty much anything; lattes, milkshakes, cheesecake, chai tea, cupcakes, oh the list could go on and on! Its a good think it is only offered during the holidays!
I did just discover Silk Nog though, which actually has about half as many calories as even the light eggnog! That could either be a good thing, or very bad..... :)

Melissa George
Remember the Friends episode where Ross and Rachel hired a hot nanny, who ended up crashing/fulfilling Joey's dreams by being a lesbian? Well I somehow just realized that she is also the client on In Treatment who made me worry about getting crushes on clients! (Im joking here people, nobody call the APA ethics board on me!!)
Oh and after I figured that out, I looked her up and it turns out she was also Meredith's friend on Grey's Anatomy for a few episodes who I thought was super cute! How did I not put this all together until now?! To my credit, she does look much different (and better!) as a brunette!

This song and this show
I love the song, and even more so when Glee does an awesome remix of it!

Ok, that is all for me this week, what is making you happy?!

Happy Monday {11th ed.}

Happy Monday!!

Thanksgiving!
Even meatless its a pretty awesome holiday :)

Infinity scarves
Its just such an amazingly simple solution to the annoying untying scarf dilemma!
(Oh how I wish I had an unlimited gift card for Etsy....)

Netflix
Because you really do not want to know how much money I threw away in late fees prior to the days of Netflix, its scary! How awesome is it that you can click a button and either instantly watch a movie, or simply wait a day for it to show up in your mailbox?! We are a spoiled society...
These beds
Yeah, I really love bedtime!!
My Dad
He really truly is amazing and I love him very much! He is a Midwesterner through and through, but has opened his mind and heart to my sexuality, my passion for academics (as in, rather than marrying and having kids right away), my oftentimes differing values and viewpoints, and well basically me! He is supportive and amazing and I love and miss him every day.
(Incase you missed it, I did a Happy Monday with my mom in it too...Im not playing favorites here!)

That is it for me this week, what is making you happy lately?!
