Quotation Wednesday {39th Ed.}

I posted a print from this shop in my Happy Monday post this week. Apparently though I just can't get enough! I love this quote, I love the whimsical print, it all just makes me happy. What an empowering statement.
"Look within, you are the world." -J. Krishnamurti

Quotation Wednesday {37th Ed.}

No need to explain the beauty of this quote, it's just phenomenal...
"because there's nothing more beautiful than the way the ocean refuses to stop kissing the shoreline, no matter how many times it's sent away" -Sarah Kay

Quotation Wednesday {36th Ed.}

I don't have any profound reason why I love this one, except that the pairing of the words "passionately curious" is just so appealing to me...

Quotation Wednesday {35th Ed.}

This quote is from a great book! Have you read the Perks of Being a Wallflower? If not, go do it, now! I love this quote though. I think it is hard sometimes to hold 2 seemingly contradictory emotions or ideas. It is entirely possible to love and hate, to dream with fear, to be happy and sad, all at the same time. The trick is to learn how to accept that and live within the contradiction.

Quotation Wednesday {34th Ed.}

I strongly believe that it is very important to experience new places, either through travel or moving. That is why I love this quote so much, because I often find myself when I travel. There is a psychological phenomenon called a dissociative fugue when someone disconnects from reality and unknowingly travels to a new place. By no means do I intend to romanticize the psychopathology of this disorder, but there is a small aspect of it, the idea of a new discovery through travel, that is quite appealing...
"Sometimes you have to travel to a new place to rediscover the old you."-Terri Trespicio
ps: thanks Lynn for sharing the quote! :)

Quotation Wednesday {33rd ed.}

I loved this quote the minute I read it. It can be interpreted and applied in so many different ways; speak up for the underdog, don't believe everything you read, impart power to those without, ..... I love that about a good quote, it can be so easy to personalize and there truly is no wrong interpretation.
"Until lions have their own historians, tales of hunting will always glorify the hunters."
-African proverb
Personally, I resonate most with the idea of speaking up for those who can not. Advocating for the disenfranchised, be it people, animals, or even ideas that are not recognized, is something I am passionate about so when I read this quote that is what I make of it. What about you?

Quotation Wednesday {32nd ed.}

Beauty comes from within...that seems to be a theme in my quotation choices huh? Well it's true!
"Beauty is not in the face; beauty is a light in the heart."-Kahlil Gibran

Quotation Wednesday {31st ed.}

This quote is beautiful and so wonderfully true. In everything, inner beauty and strength shine through, even more so when life is difficult. I particularly love that it is Elizabeth Kubler-Ross that said it, the "death woman" writing so eloquently on inner beauty, awesome.
"People are like stained glass windows.
They sparkle and shine when the sun is out,
but when the darkness sets in,
their true beauty is revealed only if there is light
from within."

-Kubler-Ross

Quotation Wednesday {30th ed.}

Do you believe in magic? I used to think that if I can't see proof of it's existence and understand it, it could not exist. Now, I truly believe in the possibility of everything! Ghosts, angels, wizards, the possibility that trees have feelings, aliens living in a secret government hideout, whatever! Who are we as egocentric human beings to say that nothing exists unless we have discovered it? The world is a much more interesting and fun place when you never know what magical creature is just around the corner...
Sorry, I don't know the source,
apparently its from the show One Tree Hill...?

Quotation Wednesday {29th ed.}

Yikes, Ive been so focused on my dissertation participant stress that I almost forgot about Quotation Wednesday! Anyways, here it is. I love how whimsical both the print and quote are for this one. Isn't it just adorably optimistic? I figured that I needed a little bit of that, so maybe you guys did to :)

Quotation Wednesday {28th ed.}

Oh Mother Teresa, how amazing is she? I love this quote because I am such a huge fan of people who act with their whole heart. I instantly thought of children when I read this, how they treat a dandelion like a prized gem when they give it to you. When do we lose that? At what point to people judge gifts and acts by their monetary value rather than the true heart and emotion behind it? Lets all make a pact to put our heart and soul into even the small acts in our lives...and also to receive in the same manner. How beautiful this world could be!
"Do small things with great love." -Mother Teresa

Quotation Wednesday {27th ed.}

This is actually a print from an Etsy shop and I just copied it, but I really like it. My yoga teacher from Seattle, Terilynn said something like this often and I just think it is a really good reminder, particularly in our goal oriented society. Sometimes it is good to remember that right where you are is perfectly lovely!

Quotation Wednesday {26th ed.}

Learning, growing, and thriving from your pain; this is something I feel strongly about. This quote states that beautifully.
"Out of suffering have emerged the strongest souls;
the most massive characters are seared with scars."

-Kahlil Gibran

Quotation Wednesday {25th ed.}

This quote is whimsical and yet motivating at the same time. I love the idea of telling the dreamer to dare to dream big, just remember to build the foundations that hold the gravity of such amazing goals!
"If you have built castles in the air, your work need not be lost;
that is where they should be. Now put the foundations under them."

-Thoreau

Quotation Wednesday {23rd and 24th eds.}

Yikes, I was not an active blogger last week, I even forgot my favorite posts, Quotation Wednesday!! (Side note: my IRB finally got approved so I was busy getting my dissertation survey out there!) Anyways, here are 2 of them, have to keep all of my fans happy :)
This one I just love because I am a quiet person and only speak up when I truly do have something to say! I have never been on of those people who can talk until their voice goes out, so when I say something, it honestly is important to me! Kudos Plato for encompassing that idea for me :)
"Wise men talk because they have something to say;
fools, because they have to say something."

-Plato
And this one is just awesome! Pardon my french, but you are all fuckin' perfect to me!!
"Pretty pretty please, don't you ever ever feel like you're less than fuckin' perfect!"-Pink
Perfect is being exactly who you are, not something that fits into a mold. I want to make it my life's mission to make people believe that they are all destined to be their own version of absolutely perfect!

Quotation Wednesday {22nd ed.}

This is another one from the daily meditation book that I am reading and I think it is really beautiful. I love that it honors the difficulty of breaking out of the comfortable place of a bud, but also shows the beauty of blooming!
"And then the day came when the risk to remain tight in a bud
was more painful than the risk to bloom."
- Anais Nin

Quotation Wednesday {21st ed.}

Well, its her last day, so it only makes sense that Oprah gets my Quotation Wednesday today! She has said that all everyone wants is to be validated. It is such a simple, yet amazing thing to offer, just listen, offer yourself as validation and love.
"I see you, I hear you, and what you say matters to me."-Oprah

Quotation Wednesday {20th ed.}

Well it looks like my 19th edition is still lost in blogger world, I will get it back up though. Anyways, here is my 20th!
"You have your way. I have my way. As for the right way,
the correct way, and the only way,
it does not exist."

-Nietzsche
There is no Truth, only what each individual believes to be their truth. Its hard to keep in mind sometimes, but always  good reminder!

Quotation Wednesday {19th ed.}

Edit: *Yay, its back!!*
Thank you all for your encouraging words yesterday, I really appreciate it! Ok, now on a happier note :) ....

This poem was included in the prologue of a book I am currently listening to and the last line really stuck with me, the image I make of it is just so beautiful and empowering to me. I really hope it resonates with all of you too.

"Suddenly I realize that if I stepped out of my body

I would break into blossom"

-James Wright
Isn't that awesome?! I included the whole poem below because I really like it, but that last line is just gorgeous to me. I admittedly do not know much about poetry but I want to buy one of his books, he seems like such a hauntingly beautiful poet.

Just off the highway to Rochester, Minnesota,
Twilight bounds softly forth on the grass.
And the eyes of those two Indian ponies
Darken with kindness.
They have come gladly out of the willows
To welcome my friend and me.
We step over the barbed wire into the pasture
Where they have been grazing all day, alone.
They ripple tensely, they can hardly contain their happiness
That we have come.
They bow shyly as wet swans, They love each other.
There is no loneliness like theirs.
At home once more, they begin munching the young tufts of spring in the darkness.
I would like to hold the slenderer one in my arms,
For she has walked over to me
And nuzzled my left hand.
She is black and white,
Her mane falls wild on her forehead,
And the light breeze moves me to caress her long ear
That is delicate as the skin over a girl's wrist.
Suddenly I realize
That if I stepped out of my body I would break
Into blossom.
-James Wright

Quotation Wednesday {18th ed.}

 I saw this poem in a daily meditation book that I am reading (which I absolutely love by the way, you can find it here) and I really liked the last line. I am not entirely sure what it is, but something just resonates with me.
"every day is a journey, and the journey itself is home"-Basho
